You get to decide what to worship, II

(Work in Progress)

We get to decide what to worship!

 Insight of the day:
You are a painter, if you paint.

Wow! In case you just wanna let that sink in and finish reading this post later, I totally understand.
Two hours of deep thinking, a humanities education and a contemplative mind really paid of:
You are a painter, if you paint.
You're not a painter if you want to paint, but if you actually paint.
If you paint, if you paint, if you paint.
You're a painter, if you get up in the middle of the night to quickly do a scetch.
You're a painter, if you miss painting like other people miss their dead grandpa.
You're a painter, if painting is the way, in which you explain yourself the world. If you carry the sight of a painting through your day like others carry their kids' pictures.
If painting is your dead grandpa, family photo, ground for growth, source of satisfaction, then you're a painter. Not neccessarily because the you're very good, or get rich by doing it, not because the critics love you. You're a painter, if you paint.
When somebody asks me what I plan to do with my education in humanities in the future, I tend to mumble that I might, somehow, someday wanna write a little. Then, I run as fast as I can to avoid follow-up questions.

I spent the last hour trying to fill the blank page. (no worries: I won't write 1000 words about not-writing now, as it's roughly as interesting as debut novels by midtwenties writing about someone in his midtwenties who really, really wants to be a writer)
I wanna move people with my writing, I wanna somehow be useful to someone, I want my writing to spark an idea or a world revolution (or THE world revolution to honor my socialist grandfathers?). There shall be not be anything I can't put into words and nobody who does not feel humbled by the precision of my writing.
I never wanna strive for less, no matter how long it takes.
Never again will I answer the question: Well, what can one actually do with your kind of degree?
With: Well, maybe one can become a waitress or a taxi driver or marry a rich guy. Or something with media. Alright, I gotta quickly get some more pretzel sticks/ Do you know where the bathrooms is?

Let us do what we love, because we love it!

Maybe it's not that important how good I am? Or whether I'll ever get published? Maybe I'm a writer , because I write. Because it's my way of sortming out my thoughts and explaining the world to myself. Because I carry beautiful sentences like others carry family photos and because I literally have to hold on to books I love. Maybe I am a writer, because I demand everything of books and believe them to be able to heal/ explain/ replace so much. Also: I am a writer, because I write.

We get to decide what to worship!

Yes ... just do it... and you will find that in ways you didn't expect, your work will influence people's lives and you will have your part, however small.

Hi Bambi. Yes, follow your heart. If you paint, you are a painter; if you writer, you are a writer. My sentiments exactly. Enjoy your journey.
