Let's meet Bonnie...

Let's meet....my amazing friend Bonnie. She is a smart, funny, loyal lady and one of the most passionate people I know. We met when we both moved (back) to Leipzig, our beautiful place of birth and spend the last two years of high school living, laughing, crying, thinking together.
Now Bonnie lives in exciting Berlin and is training to become a vet and I couldn't be prouder.
She is one of my favorite people and I am so happy to share her thoughts with you. Enjoy!

Let's meet...meine wundervolle Freundin Bonnie. Sie ist eine intelligente, witzige, loyale Frau und eine der leidenschaftlichsten Menschen, die ich kenne. Wir haben uns kennengelernt als wir beide (zurück) nach Leipzig, unsere wunderschöne Heimatstadt, gezogen sind. Wir haben die letzten zwei Schuljahre miteinander gewohnt, gelacht, geweint und nachgedacht.
Jetzt lebt Bonnie im aufregenden Berlin und studiert Tiermedizin.
Sie ist eine meiner allerliebsten Menschen und ich bin so stolz auf sie. Ich freue mich ihre Gedanken mit euch teilen zu können. Viel Spaß dabei!


Was ist deine Lieblingsstadt?

Ich komme aus Leipzig und dort ist immer mein Herz und zu hause, dort ist auch meine Familie.

Sehnsucht fühlt sich an wie Venedig.

What is your favourite city?

I'm from Leipzig and this is where my heart, home and family are and always will be.

Longing feels like Venice.

Du wanderst aus und kannst nur drei Bücher mitnehmen. Welche wählst du?

Anatomie der Haussäugetiere von König& Liebich – ich habe mir so lange gewünscht all das studieren und lernen zu können, nun kann ich mir nicht vorstellen jemals alles zu wissen und das Buch wieder wegzulegen.... und die Zeichnungen sind wunderschön. Es ist das beste Buch, das ich jemals gekauft habe.

You emigrate and have only space for 3 books which would you choose?

'Anatomy of Mammals of Domestic Species' by König&Liebich- I dreamed so long of being able to study and learn all that and now I can't imagine to ever know everything and therefore to be able to put this books down again... and the drawings are so beautiful as well. It's the best book I ever bought.

'The Swimmer' by Zsuzsa Bank

Was ist deine Lieblingsmusik?

Eigentlich gibt es da jeden Tag etwas neues, dass mich mitreißt, aber …

Die Musik von Coldplay hat mir unendliche Male schon das Leben gerettet und geht immer unter meine Haut. Purer Pop aber ich fand nie, dass es Kommerz geworden ist.

Und danke → Jennifer Rostock, Thees Uhlmann, Casper, Blumentopf für Schönheit in Wutausbrüchen und alles, was ich selber nicht sein kann, aber was ständig in meinen Ohren ist.

What is your favourite music?

Actually there's something new every day that takes me by storm but...

The music of Coldplay saved my life countless times and always touches my soul. It's pure pop mucis, but in my opinion not commercial.

And thanks to  →  Jennifer Rostock, Thees Uhlmann, Casper, Blumentopf for beauty in blazes of anger and everything I can't be but still wanna hear constantly.

Glaubst du an Gott? Wenn ja, an welchen?

Ich glaube an unerschöpfliche Natur und Vielfalt, die uns immer überdauern wird. Zu wissen, dass alles im Fluss ist und dass das Leben in so vielen Varianten existiert, in denen Menschen nur einen kleinen Teil einnehmen, ist für mich tröstlich. Wir sind in der Natur zu hause und leben direkt durch alle anderen Lebewesen. Für mich ist Gott der innere Zusammenhang von allem. Kleine Kohlenstoffmoleküle, Sand an einem Strand, Blätter im Wald.

Do you believe in God? If yes, in which one?

I believe in inexhaustible nature and variety that will always outlast us. I find comfort in the knowledge that everything is in a constant flow and us human beings are just a small part of the whole. We have a home in nature and live through all other beings. For me, God is the inner connection of everything. Small carbon molecules, sand on the beach, leaves in the forest.

Wenn du eine Superkraft wählen könntest, welche wäre es?

Zu heilen, was nicht mehr geheilt werden kann.

If you could choose a superpower, which one would it be?

The power to heal what can't be healed anymore.

Was sind deine Lieblingsgerüche?

Waldluft, Regen& Moos an einem kühlen Herbsttag, Pferde

What are your favourite smells?

The smell of forests, rain&moss on a cool fall day, horses

Was wäre deine letzte Mahlzeit auf Erden?

Wein und getrocknete Cranberries.

What would be your last supper?

Wine and dried cranberries.

Kaffee oder Tee?

Immer Kaffee. Nichts kann Kaffee ersetzen.

Coffee or tea?

Always coffee. There's nothing to relpace it.

Was würdest du deinem 14 jährigen Ich mit auf den Weg geben?

Hab keine Angst verloren zu gehen, trau dich.

Sei nicht leiser und angepasster nur um zu gefallen. Richtig ist nicht das, was gesellschaftlich anerkannt ist, sondern was dein Herz dir sagt. Dein einziger Kritiker bist für immer du. 

What advice would you give your 14-year old self?

Don't be afraid of getting lost, be brave.

Don't be quiet and conforming in order to be liked or fit in. It's not the things that are socially accepted that are true, but those that your heart believes to be true. You are your only critic.
